Reflection...

ISTE's National Education Technology Standards require that teachers use effective use and modeling of technology in the classroom.  Software, such as Microsoft Office, can help teachers meet these standards.  For example....

Standard #1: Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity.
  • This means that use their own knowledge of technology and subject matter to facilitate creative and inventive thinkers amongst their students.  For example,  a classroom can use Microsoft office to create and design a newsletter for the class by modeling newspapers.  This meets standard 1 because the teacher is promoting creative and innovative thinking.

Standard #2:  Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Asses
sments.
  • The requires teachers to incorporate the use of technology into their curriculum to develop knowledge of content area as well as knowledge of subject matter.  An example of this may be an educational "scavenger hunt" on the web where students have list of information they must find on the internet.  This meets standard 2 because it adapts relevant learning experiences and incorporates digital tools to engage the students in learning.

Standard #3:  Model Digital-Age work and Learning.
  • This means that teachers must use technological resources both creatively and professionally.  For example, a teacher can create a BLOG (similar to this one!) that students, teachers, parents can use to check assignments, see photo's of the classroom, message board for help, find links to other informative web sites, grades, etc.  This meets standard 3 because the teacher is corresponding with the educational community using a variety of digital-age media.

Very well done blog site. I can see your creative side, which would also meet standard 1. I think a lot of teachers find the creative side more difficult then others, like me. I'm not as creative.

Today, we're going to talk about creating more digital appropriate connections for students, like your digital scavenger hunt, and how you can support them with your blog.
